In late 2023, Congress included the Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) Disclosure Act as part of the Fiscal Year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act. Now:
- All UAP-related records from federal agencies must be collected and transferred to the National Archives.
- Each record will either be publicly released or formally postponed, with strict criteria for any delays.
- A Review Board of nine experts will oversee the process.
- Postponed records must be re-reviewed every 25 years, ensuring eventual access unless it’s a genuine national-security concern. https://www.democrats.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/uap_amendment.pdf https://www.insidegovernmentcontracts.com/2024/01/implications-of-the-unidentified-anomalous-phenomena-uap-amendment-in-the-2024-national-defense-authorization-act-ndaa/ https://thesolfoundation.org/publication/the-ufo-enigma-a-call-for-us-government-disclosure
This marks the first time U.S. law requires automatic disclosure of UFO files — giving the public a clearer view into decades of classified phenomena.https://www.democrats.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/uap_amendment.pdf
